1. Gather Your Supplies

• Mariiposa Magiic Cleanser
• Makeup Brushes (or other tools you plan to clean)
• Glass of Lukewarm Water
• Cleaning Mat or Bowl (optional but helpful for deeper cleaning)
• 2 Clean Towels: 1 for moisture wicking after each cleansing + 1 for laying your brushes on for drying 

Tip: Work near a sink for easier rinsing. 

2. Prep Your Cleanser

1. Soften Your Cleanser with a Thin Layer of Water: This helps activate the cleanser to pick up product when you start to swirl your brush.

3. Dampen the Bristles

1. Dip Your Brush into The Glass of Lukewarm Water + Avoid Ferrule Saturation: Be careful not to let water seep into the ferrule (the metal part). Excess moisture there can loosen the glue that holds bristles in place.

Tip: Keep the handle and ferrule as dry as possible to prolong the brush’s lifespan.

4. Activate our Mariiposa Magiic Cleanser

1. Swirl the Brush: Gently swirl the damp bristles in the cleanser to create a lather. Apply mild pressure in circular motions to dislodge deep-set residue, using the sugar diamond on the lid for extra stubborn brushes.

5. Work Up a Good Lather

1. Massage the Bristles: Use gentle, circular motions to thoroughly work the cleanser through the brush, keeping it in the container. The more product that works through the bristles, the faster it will break down oils, pigments, and buildup.
2. Observe the Color Change: Watch for color residue in the foam. Rinse and repeat until and continue massaging until the lather and water runs relatively clear.

Tip: If the brush is still releasing a lot of pigment, rinse and repeat the swirling in the container.  

Depending on how dirty your brushes are and how long it has been since the last cleanse, the first time will take the longest. With a consistent schedule, for example, your brushes will now have 2 weeks worth of product, as opposed to 2 months. 

Additionally, the dirtier the brush is, the less lather will form, until it is free from product that all your see if clean bubbles with no color left.

6. Rinse Thoroughly

1. Rinse: Holding the brush bristles downward, rinse under a soft stream of water.
2. Check for Remaining Residue: If you still see visible buildup or the foam is discolored, repeat Steps 4 and 5.

7. Remove Excess Moisture

1. Gently Squeeze: Use your fingers to gently press out the excess water from the bristles.
2. Blot on a Towel: Lightly blot or pat the brush on a clean towel to remove any lingering moisture.

Pro Tip: Avoid twisting or pulling on the bristles—this can cause damage and shedding.

8. Reshape and Dry

1. Reshape Bristles: Gently mold the brush head back into its natural shape.
2. Lay Flat or Hang Bristles Down: Place the brushes on a clean towel or a brush drying rack with the bristles angled downward or lying flat. This helps prevent water from seeping into the ferrule.

Tip: Ensure enough ventilation around the drying area. Avoid drying brushes in an upright position as water can trickle down into the handle and loosen the bristles.

9. Store Brushes Properly

• Let Them Fully Dry: Small eye brushes may take 1-2 hours to fully dry, while denser foundation brushes may take overnight for the brushes to dry completely. 
• Store Upright or in a Roll: Once dry, keep them in a brush holder or a brush roll to maintain their shape and cleanliness.

10. Maintenance and Frequency

• Sunday Funday is the new Clean Your Brushes Day: For frequently used face brushes or those used with liquid or cream products, clean them weekly to prevent bacteria buildup.
• Deep Clean Monthly: Even if you spot clean regularly with other products, aim for a thorough wash with our Mariiposa Magiic Cleanser at least once a month for optimal brush performance and hygiene.
